Seeker Sweep No 10 Cate Tiernan Books

Sweep 10, Seeker, switches from Morgans life as a teenage witch struggling to survive to a story about Hunter and his long lost father. The change is a bit disconcerting and changes the whole focus of the series. During the previous 9 volumes we learned that Hunter's parents ran away from their original witchey village in England to escape the "black wave" magic that had previously destroyed other covens and killed everyone involved. Now that Morgan and Hunter have succeeded in finding and eliminating those responsible for the black wave magic, Hunter can seek out his long hidden father. When father is found in French Canada, Hunter learns that his mother died a few months before and the elder man is doing "dark" magic to contact the dead. I found that sequence a little strange because contacting the dead is one of the oldest skills of witches, and is not generally thought of as dark or harmful magic. It was already an ancient form of magic when Israel's King Saul sought out the Witch of Endor. So the criticism and emotional devastation described made little sense from a practical witch's point of view. Hunter also became involved in some relatively trivial enforcement as part of his job working for the Council of Witches. That sequence gave the author a place to show contact with the dead in a more positive perspective. Overall I was not enthusiastic about this volume since it did not continue the story or most of the characters of the prior 9 volumes.

Seeker Sweep No 10 Cate Tiernan Books Reviews

Love all the books by this author! If you like paranormal books this is a great book for you to read
This is another of the Sweep series. It was a very enjoyable book. Young adults will really like this series because the main character is a teenager who is trying to deal with finding out that she is a blood witch.
The Sweep series is all about figuring out who you are and accepting it.. How to choose being a good person over the bad things that tempt us in life.. The right path is not always the easy path. It's a fast, easy & great read and has a great plot.
When I first started reading this book I was a litle confused since Hunter was narrating it, but then i really got into it!!! I loved the fact that she had changed from Morgan's point of (Morgan happens to be my name too!) to Hunter's, we finally got to really understand his feelings! I found myself so involved in the book that my emotions were really strong! At one point I got so mad at Hunter! I won't say anything more about that though! You'll have to read it and find out! But I just have to say that this was ANOTHER GREAT book in the Sweep series and I am impatiently waiting for the next one to come out!
This book just made me like Hunter less. I am not convinced he deserves Morgan. After this book, she should kick him to the curb. It was interesting to read from his point of view but its not as riveting as the other books.
The writing is so very easy to read. I started this series maybe 3 weeks ago and I've almost read the whole thing. Ms. Tiernan knows how to keep you intrigued !
This book is narrated by Hunter, not Morgan. Which is a nice change of pace for the series. Hunter has been told by the Council his parents are in Canada. He doesn't want to leave Morgan, but has to find out what happened to his parents. What he finds isn't all that shocking.
His mother has passed 2 moths earlier, and he finds his Father is just an empty shell of a man. Not the strong witch he once was. His Father is nothing of what Hunter remembers of him. He's too thin, living in a filthy shack in the back woods of Canada. Their reunion is strained, and Hunter still has unanswered questions.

After a few days of Hunter caring for his Da, he decides to press the issue of what happened 11 years ago when his parents fled their village and coven, but his father won't talk about it. Hunter notices strange behavior from his Father and decides to follow him one morning on his way to "work". Hunter finds his Father, involved in a dark magick ritual, trying to speak to his dead Mother. Hunter is horrified by his findings but is quickly drawn in by his Father's promise of speaking to his dead Mother one last time. Together they call on her spirit in the shadow world and make contact with Hunter's Mum. Hunter and his Mum have a quick reunion but she tells Hunter and his Da, they can't call her back again, it could kill them both. Hunter's Da, would rather die than to go on with out his soul mate. Hunter has to find a way to be a Seeker and a son at the same time.

While in Canada Hunter is given another task from the Witch Council to investigate a witch who is gathering the true names of animals and people and writing them down. The council finds this witch to be a big threat. But as Hunter investigates her he finds her to be harmless. She's a little older than he is, and he finds her attractive and he can have good conversation with her. But what he doesn't realize, is that she's finding the true names of people and animals from the shadow world. Hunter is tempted by this new witch and is starting to question the Council's practices.

I won't ruin the ending but there are a few twists in this book that I really enjoyed. Overall this was one of the better books of the series.
